Common misunderstanding of physics concepts by students and how to resolve them.
Suggested Discussion Questions:
What are the common misconceptions that students form of physics principles, ideas and laws. Why does the confusion arise? How can we resolve these problems? What have teachers tried?
Structure and Timeline of workshop:
1. April 2 : Registration begins
2. April 16:Online forum activated for participants to engage in discussion prior to the workshop. This is to identify the main problems and questions, and think about them, before the actual workshop meeting.
3. Workshop day: Intensive group level discussion on proposed solutions to problems and questions identified during the online period. Group leaders will make summary presentations.
4. Post-workshop online discussion: In the spirit of ongoing discussion and experimentation, we encourage participants to use the online forum, if they wish, to continue the dialog with their peers and help resolve issues, or just network.
5. Post-workshop publications: Interested participants are invited to write about their ideas or views in articles that will be published in a local Physics magazine.
As the workshop is limited to 40 participants, we encourage you to register early.
