Abstract
First principles theory based on Density Functional Theory (DFT) can be used to predict materials properties from fundamental quantum mechanics without recourse to empirical parameters. Several computational tools based on DFT have been developed and applied in wide range of fields and interdisciplinary research topics. In this talk, I will briefly introduce first principles theory and present some applications in bulk, interface, surface and nanostructure studies.
