This project is one of many offered under the Science Research Programme (SRP) for Junior College students (17-year-olds) in Singapore. It started in March 1996 and finished in August 1996. This particular project on Special Relativity, which is a brainchild of Dr. Edward Teo of the Defence Science Organisation, aims to investigate the different relativistic visual effects resulting from a finite speed of light. Two SRP students, Soo Wern Miin of Raffles Junior College and Yian Chee Hoo of Hwa Chong Junior College, are responsible for the completion of this particular project. In addition to their scientific papers, they have also compiled this set of web pages with the intention of providing an animated demonstration of Special Relativity.
Wern Miin contributes to this publication with her infallible theoretical understanding of Special Relativity and provides a strong foundation for this project. On the other hand, Chee Hoo focuses on the technicalities involved with visualising Special Relativity. The advantage of employing a multimedia form of presentation enables them to include a few sets of relativistic movies to illustrate their findings.
