SF1100 Science Foundation (Computer Science Section)

Objective

As information technology grows at a fast speed and its use is indispensable in all economic sectors, we have to ensure that our students are at least computer literates when they enter the working environment. In these lectures, I will first give an introductory talk on the computer hardware and its evolution to the state-of-the-practice network computer. Subsequently, I will introduce to you three types of software available in the network. The second lecture will focus on Internet Applications, Computer Security and Privacy. These topics are carefully selected in view of the current affairs and the development of computer use. After each lecture, students are expected to work on the Multiple Choice and True/False questions. Students are also encouraged to share their views on Computer Science in our discussion group. All these additional activities will  enhance your knowledge, and make you a computer literate.
