Ipoh and Tin Mines, Perak, Malaysia
The meandering Perak River flows through the middle of this scene. The tin mining
landscape with its numerous dark ponds, and blue and grey debris heaps is a
northeast-southwest strip near the eastern edge of the image. The town of Ipoh is
located to the extreme northeast of this mining landscape. The coastal plains are
in either paddy or oil palm. Parts of the original coastal swamp are seen towards northwest.
Hills show up in dark green with geological lineations like the one below
the clouds. The Malacca Straits is full of land-derived sediment.
