The Singapore-China Joint symposium on research Frontier in Physics aims to address challenges and opportunities in current physics research frontiers, to enhance communications and collaborations between physicists from China and from Singapore, and to promote international collaborations on graduate education. The joint symposium is an annual event, and previously it was hosted by NUS (2005), ZheJiang Univ. (2006), XiaMen Univ. (2007), and SuZhou Univ. (2008).

Past years have witnessed dramatic developments in the NUS Physics Department. Traditional areas of NUS physics are being strengthened, and new strategic areas such as quantum information, graphene physics, phononics, and biophysics have been well established. Accordingly, the 5th symposium held at NUS will mainly cover, but not limited to, the following areas:
1: Condensed Matter Physics
2: Computational Physics
3: Advanced Materials
4: Optics and Photonics
5: Nonlinear Physics and Statistical Physics
6: Quantum Control and Quantum Information
7: Bio-Physics
