Synchrotron radiation has become, in the course of the last three decades, a powerful tool for analytical purposes and for advanced fabrication, indispensable for a great many of disciplines such as the life sciences, materials science, environmental analysis, and micro/nano fabrication. It allows to look into living organisms, man-made materials and advanced engineering components, in vivo, almost non-destructively, in situ, and with spatial and time resolution, showing many more features in structural, chemical, electronic, and magnetic properties than conventional methods can do.

Singapore is a special place for synchrotron radiation. Due to the strong concentration of high-tech industry and the high level of scientific research and education there is a huge potential for synchrotron radiation applications. It is our mission to bring synchrotron radiation into the industrial, institutional, and academic daily life in order to add value to the wealth-creating process.

Setting up beam lines and experimental facilities at a fast pace SSLS is in a phase of strong growth. Our first beam line is being installed these days and within one year we plan to have three more ready. This is a very favourable situation for those who join us now. Partners from industry and various research organisations have already teamed up with us.
